In our last +1, we talked about living your eulogy virtues TODAY. We don’t want to think of our eulogy virtues as some abstract notion of the ideal you, but as a moment to moment compass that points you in the direction of the most exemplary, noble version of yourself.
Here’s one way to keep your eulogy virtues in mind.
First, do the eulogy exercise. Show up at your own funeral. Imagine what people have to say about you. And, come up with the qualities you hope people will most remember you by.
For me, it’s things like being creative, hopeful, and optimistic. Courageous, authentic, inspiring, energized and enthusiastic. Kind, generous, present and loving.
How about you?
What are your eulogy virtues?
Next step: Every morning when you sit down to create your To-Do List that will help you embody your résumé virtues, make a separate little list in which you capture your eulogy virtues. That’s your To-Be List.
You already had a “To-Do List.”
Now you have a “To-Be List.”
They’re both important.
But, here’s the thing: When in doubt, pull out your compass and follow your To-Be List.
