In our last +1, we continued our discussion about the fact that I’m not open to negotiating the fact that you are Heroic. 🤓
As you may recall, I lost some sleep over some very simple potential edits to the copy I was working on for a +1 and I leaned on some wisdom from Eric Butterworth to make my point.
Butterworth once said: “The more we understand the concepts of Jesus, the more we realize that the only time we can truthfully say, ‘That’s just the way I am,’ is when we are referring to the divinity within us. You have a great potentiality, a divine self within you that needs to be released. This is what Jesus really taught.”
Now…
I mentioned the fact that, as I was cooking some Heroic distinction bars, I ALSO thought of Superman. And the Golden Buddha.
Today we’re going to talk about why Superman popped up in my head. Then we’ll talk about the Golden Buddha in our next +1.
Let’s get to work.
So…
We all know Superman.
That caped-crusader who can do impossible things.
And…
We all know that he has an alter ego: Clark Kent.
That guy is timid and fumbling and comes across as very un-Heroic.
But…
And this is another VERY BIG BUT!!
As Todd Herman wisely points out in The Alter Ego Effect, the REAL person WASN’T the “normal” Clark Kent.
It was Superman.
And…
THAT’s why I’m so adamant about YOU BEING HEROIC.
The timid, fumbling version of you (and me and all of us!) overwhelmed by fear and laziness?
THAT’S NOT THE REAL YOU!!!
That’s the version of you that’s been slowed down and weakened by all the micro-Kryptonites of your life.
We just need to do the hard work to chip away at what’s in the way and let the true you shine through.
Heroic strength for two required.
Capes optional.
Let’s go, Hero.
