Micro Moments with Kids

In our last couple +1s (here and here), we’ve been chatting about the Heroic adventure I recently went on with the kids.

Our quick trip was packed with a bunch of lifetime memories as we got a special tour of the USS RONALD REAGAN aircraft carrier and attended the Change of Command ceremony for my Heroic friend Captain Daryle Cardone.

Today I want to chat about our trip home…

Important note: After packing up and before we headed down to hop in our Uber, I had to snap a quick picture of our bathroom floor to send to the Wifey.

I’m pretty sure we set an all-time record for most swimming towels used in a 3-day trip. The kids hit the pool every chance we got. 😆

Now…

As we were in the elevator heading down to catch the Uber, I told the kids that we’d be looking for micro-moments of awesome all morning.

🎯 🎯 🎯

Our first one?

Well…

We had our first micro-moment of awesome moments later when we met Dante, our Uber driver.

He’s truly awesome.

He’s got kids Emerson and Eleanor’s age plus a 2-year-old.

Busy guy!!!

😳 🤯!!

As we drive, we had fun chatting about the ships we were passing in the San Diego bay.

Then…

I asked him how long he’s been in San Diego.

He told me he got recruited to play basketball which led him there and THAT led to an AWESOME chat about how good he is at 1-on-1 basketball and how he got to play in the Golden State Warriors practice facility as part of a global tournament.

He even won their slam dunk contest!

😳 🤯 🏀!!

After celebrating him, I told him about the time I got to spend with the Chicago Bulls coaching staff. I told him that I made sure I took some free throws while in THEIR practice facility.

To which Emerson asked: “Did you make some?!”

To which I said: “DUDE! Of course.”

Haha.

Fun fact: I won a free throw competition when I was in eighth grade. Made something like 22 or 23 out of 25 shots.

Let’s go! 😆

Then Dante told me about meeting the legendary Jerry West. As you may know… Jerry West is an icon. His silhouette is LITERALLY the logo for the NBA!

Dante told me he couldn’t believe how HUGE his hands were.

Then…

I told him about meeting Arturas Karnišovas (the Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations for the Chicago Bulls) and how huge HE is.

We laughed as I told him that, although I knew he was big when we were walking next to each other, it wasn’t until Michael took a picture of us that I realized JUST how huge he is and JUST how small he made me look.

Want to laugh along with us? Check this out.

😆

By the end of our 15-minute ride, we were fist bumping and buzzing.

And…

That’s Today’s +1.

Here’s to looking up from our screens and exiting our cocoons of self-absorption long enough to find all the little Micro Moments of Awesome with all the awesome humans in the world.

All day.

Every day.

Especially…

TODAY.

P.S. Have you set up YOUR Heroic app to make sure you (and your kids!) hit some Micro Moments of Awesome Targets? After Dante this morning, I’ve Target swiped that 910 times.
