#2041 Mastery by George Leonard

Love the Process, Stay on the Path

Today’s wisdom is from Mastery by George Leonard. (One of my all-time favorite books.)

George Leonard reminds us: “Mastery isn’t about quick wins—it’s about showing up for the process.”

The path to mastery requires patience, discipline, and a love for the journey itself. Check out the notes for more.

Here’s how to practice mastery today:

1. Commit to Practice. George tells us: “Practice is the heart of mastery.” Dedicate time to practicing one skill, no matter how small the effort.

2. Embrace Plateaus. “Plateaus are part of the process.” Be patient with periods of slow progress—they’re preparing you for breakthroughs. (This is one of the biggest ideas I’ve taught Emerson in his process of mastering chess.)

3. Focus on the Process. “Mastery is about loving the process, not just the result.” Celebrate the act of showing up, regardless of the outcome.

With all that in mind…

What’s one step you can take today to embrace the path of mastery?

Again, check out the notes for more and you can learn more about the alternate path to Mastery. There’s a few other pathways that you and I both have taken in our lives. Check out the notes for more on that.
