In our last +1, we talked about Joseph Campbell’s koan: “What am I? Am I the bulb that carries the light, or am I the light of which the bulb is a vehicle?”
Hmmm… 🤔
YES!!! 🤓
Saving the longer philosophical chat for another time, we attempted to ground that brilliant mind-bender into practical reality by talking about how to dial our lightbulb wattage all the way up to a lighthouse-worthy 1,000 watts of goodness.
How? Our Fundies, of course.
💡
Today, we’re going to talk about one more little facet of How to Optimize and Actualize Spirituality-Wise.
You know that whole idea that our bodies are the temples of God? It’s echoed throughout a number of wisdom traditions.
The Bible (via Corinthians 6:19-20) tells us that our bodies are the temples of God.
In Buddhism we learn (via the Buddha): “Your body is precious. It is our vehicle for awakening. Treat it with care.”
And, in Hinduism we are told (via the Rig Veda): “The human body is the temple of God.”
So…
Uh…
Are you acting like it?
That’s Today’s +1.
Super simple.
When we Eat, Move, and Sleep Today, let’s act like we’re honoring the temples of God for which we’ve been blessed to be a steward.
All that sugar and flour and pseudo-food?
The lack of movement (or overtraining!)?
The overconsumption of nonsense entertainment that diminishes the quality of our sleep?
Aren’t all those sub-optimal behaviors kinda like spray painting graffiti all over a beautiful Temple?
Sure seems like it.
Let’s not do that.
Let’s honor our Temples.
Today.
One micro-fundie at a time.
As we plug in together and let the lightbulbs in the Temples shine!
