Today’s wisdom is from Turning Pro by Steven Pressfield—one of my all time favorite writers.
Steven Pressfield teaches us: “The amateur waits for inspiration. The professional shows up.”
The difference between amateurs and pros? Pros treat their work with discipline and commitment, even when it’s hard. Especially when it’s hard.
Here’s how to turn pro today:
1. Face Resistance Head-On. Steven writes “Resistance…” (which is what he calls that little voice in your head that tries to get you to stop doing the things you know are right for you.) ”…will always try to stop your best work.” Show up anyway.
2. Create a Routine. He tells us: “The professional has a daily practice.” So dedicate time today to work on what matters most.
3. Detach from Outcomes. He tells us: “Success is in the process, not the results.” So focus on doing the work, not on the reward.
