In our last couple +1s, we’ve had some fun hanging out with Nietzsche and Joseph Campbell, loving up our fates and all of life’s wonderful wrecks that have shaped our lives and revealed our hidden strength.
Today we’re going to invite Eckart Tolle to the party to hear his thoughts on the subject.
Here’s how he puts it in The Power of Now: “Accept—then act. Whatever the present moment contains, accept it as if you had chosen it. Always work with it, not against it. Make it your friend and ally, not your enemy. This will miraculously transform your whole life.”
So…
Quick recap.
Whatever’s happening.
Two parts.
1. Accept it.
2. Act as if you had chosen it.
It’s funny because as I went hunting for this little gem, I actually thought that Tolle had said, “Act as if you had SCRIPTED it” (vs. “chosen” it).
They both work but I kinda like the idea of acting like we SCRIPTED it. It seems to imply even more agency.
In any case…
Are you resisting anything in your life? Wishing something wasn’t happening?
Well…
Today’s +1.
Two parts.
1. Accept it.
2. Act as if you had chosen it.
Let’s always work with whatever the present moment contains.
Let’s make it our friend and ally, not our enemy.
Tolle says: “This will miraculously transform your whole life.”
