A few +1s ago we talked about John Maxwell and his wisdom that, if we want to change our lives we need to change something we do every day.
Today we’re going to step back and look at the broader context from which we pulled that gem.
In The 15 Invaluable Laws of Growth John tells us: “You will never change your life until you change something you do daily. That means developing great habits. Discipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishments, and that bridge must be crossed every day. Over time that daily crossing becomes a habit. And ultimately, people do not decide their future; they decide their habits and their habits decide their future.”
I’d like to shine a (very!) bright light on this line:
“Discipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishments, and that bridge must be crossed every day.”
Isn’t that a beautiful metaphor?
See your goal over there?
Guess how we’re going to reach it?
We’ll bridge the gap one discipline-brick at a time.
How often will we build/cross that bridge?
Every day.
And this line is worth a (very!) bright spotlight as well:
“Ultimately, people do not decide their future; they decide their habits and their habits decide their future.”
That’s Today’s +1.
What habits are you deciding on?
Here’s to your epic bridge.

P.P.S. Here’s one more gem from John: “The difference between where we are and where we want to be is created by the changes we are willing to make in our lives. When you want something you have never had, you must do something you’ve never done to get it. Otherwise, you keep getting the same results.”
