Every morning I do my thing.
Of course, my day started the night before with a solid “Shut-down complete!” and “The Office is closed!” routine. Then I did the dishes and cleaned the house as acts of love then I played and read with the kids while mommy got some time to do her thing.
(Heroic Target swipe city there, folks! 🎯 🎯 🎯 🎯 🎯 !!!)
Fun fact: After working through some Scooby Doo Mysteries (hah!), the kids and I enjoyed some 5-minute Ninjago stories last night.
That protocol led to a 96 Oura Sleep score and preceded the morning meditation and Heroic strategic vision crafting. (More Targets hit! 🎯 🎯 🎯 )
THEN…
I reread my notes from the coaching session I did with Phil Stutz the day before.
Which leads us to Today’s +1.
Yesterday Phil and I were chatting about the power of showing up and putting in what he calls “’Endless Effort.”
Most people work hard for a day or three (or month or three), hit a goal they set, then want to take a vacation. Phil LITERALLY laughs at those people. They (and, of course, we ALL at times!) want to be exonerated from any and all future hard work.
But, again, that’s not going to happen.
Phil quoted Picasso to make the point about the power of CONSISTENTLY showing up and doing the work..
Picasso once said: “Inspiration exists, but it has to find you working.”
That’s brilliant.
Inspiration?
Yep. It exists.
AND…
It better find you working.
Reminds me of some wisdom Steven Pressfield shares in The War of Art.
He tells us: “Someone once asked Somerset Maugham if he wrote on a schedule or only when struck by inspiration. ‘I write only when inspiration strikes,’ he replied. ‘Fortunately it strikes every morning at nine o’clock sharp.’”
Yep.
That’s what we’re talking about.
And that’s Today’s +1.
What to get inspired?
Awesome.
Get to work.
