#893 How to Melt Obstacles

Hint: Boldly Step Through Freedom Doors

This morning I’ve been working on a Gordian Knot in our business.

I won’t bore you with the details but seven years ago I raised $2 million to finance the creation of a business that no longer exists.

Rather than say, “Oops. Sorry. I lost your money.” 😕 to our investors, I basically closed down the old business and started a new one while keeping the investors in the new entity (which is now Heroic).

So…

It’s been time to get them whole for some time now and I’ve been wrestling with how best to do that.

Enter: My Gordian Knot.

Enter: A framed quote on my desk (that I might have swiped from Alexandra’s desk a few days ago). It’s been my go-to inspiration as I attempt to wield my sword on the ol’ Knot in the most graceful and noble way possible.

It’s an Orison Swett Marden gem.

Here it is: “Most obstacles melt away when we make up our minds to walk boldly through them.

I love that for a number of reasons.

First: It’s epically inspiring. (Right?)

Second: Remember our definition (and etymology) of freedom from a +1 not too long ago?

Quick recap.

The definition of the word freedom: “The condition of not being imprisoned or in captivity.

The etymology of the word freedom: “Boldness of behavior.”

Which leads us back to that Orison Swett Marden gem and Today’s +1.

Want freedom?

Let’s approach our obstacles with (always grounded!) boldness.

Remember: “Most obstacles melt away when we make up our minds to walk boldly through them.
